Ryan Janowitz, Graphic Designer

I’m based out of Santa Cruz, CA and specialize in graphic design. I offer brand identity, brand strategy, web design, and other graphic design services.

I’ve always been a creative person. When I was a child I loved to make comics and I loved to explore. I was constantly looking to go somewhere new, see something new, experience something I hadn’t experienced before. These passions for creation and exploration stayed with me my entire life and they’re a big part of my motivation for getting involved in graphic design. Average is boring to me, I don’t want to do the same thing everyone else does, I want to bring something fresh and unique into the world.

During my time in the Visual Communications program at LBCC I became increasingly passionate about graphic design. Through my education, I learned to use various graphic design and web design products including Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Experience Design, Premiere, and WordPress. I’m skilled in brand identity, illustration, screen printing, prepress technology, web design and implementation.

I’m a team builder and I work well with people. I used my collaborative skills at the Commuter, the LBCC student newspaper to build a strong team of journalists. I started working at the Commuter as Marketing Director in September 2022, in June 2023 I was promoted to Editor-In-Chief. During my time as editor I focused on getting more of the LBCC community involved in the paper by celebrating our students, their achievements, and their work in a variety of mediums. I wanted to give the student body a platform where their creations whether it be personal narratives, paintings, travel guides, or photography, a place to be appreciated and seen by the local community.

I want to express myself and my ideas through my designs. My goal is to be constantly improving and looking for the next place my skills can take me. I believe that establishing community through shared passions is what drives the design industry forward.

I currently work as a Graphic Design Intern at digitalNEST in Watsonville, CA. I work with a team of designers, web developers, and video production experts. DigitalNEST serves a wide variety of clients in the local area, we primarily provide web design and brand identity services.

DigitalNEST has given me a solid starting point in the graphic design industry. Getting to work with clients on a larger scale and get some more real world experience working for a design agency has been an amazing opportunity.
